Liane is a Chef in the Eastern Sierra of California. She has over 20 years of experience working in almost every area of the culinary world, from fine dining, to catering, corporate dining and consulting, to teaching and cooking for clients in remote locations.
She uses food as a tool of communication. Food is a universal language, we don’t need to understand each other to enjoy a meal together. The message represented by food is never misunderstood, at it’s heart its about caring, nurturing, supporting and coming together and if we can’t say it out loud we can say it through food.
She spent almost a decade working for Bon Appetit Management Co. focusing on seasonal and sustainable cooking before following her dream of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. After her adventures on the PCT she has looked for ways to combine her love of nature with her love of cooking, working in beautiful places like Yosemite and Glacier National Parks.
Liane went to school at Johnson & Wales University where she obtained a degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management. She then went on to pursue her Masters in Gastronomy at Boston University, minoring in Oenology.
When she is not cooking she enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking with her dog Banjo, backpacking in the Sierra, skiing, rafting and rewarding herself with a good microbrew after a backcountry adventure.
