What We're Cooking,
Eating and Enjoying

What to Cook This Month: September 2022

September is here! There is so much to look forward to in September - cooler long summer days, Labor Day BBQs and picnics and the first days of fall. Here are some recipes I'll be giving a go this month and highly recommend you do too!

Last Days of Summer: Fried Chicken Sandwiches and Peach Hand Pies

If summer was a meal, it would be this one. This awesome menu is perfect for a lunch or dinner al fresco or even on a picnic. Bonus: prepare peach hand pies to take advantage of summer's last peaches. Everything saves well and makes for awesome leftovers.

Labor Day BBQ: Pizzas

Switch up the classic BBQ menu for cast iron pizzas - make a few with different toppings for all of your eaters. My favorite topping go-to is: mushroom, roasted fennel and sausage with a sprinkle of fresh arugula and shaved parmesan.

Labor Day Picnic: White Wine Tasting

Grab your friends, a few bottles of white and some glasses and head to your patio or backyard for a wine tasting al fresco. Taste a few different white wines from all over the world with a Sommelier on Zoom with you - guiding you through the tasting. Bonus: make a charcuterie plate to enjoy with your wines!

Labor Day Dessert: Homemade Ice Cream

Go wild and make a few different versions of this homemade ice cream. My favorite mix-ins:

  • oreos

  • chocolate chips and hazelnuts and a splash of orange liqueur like Grand Marnier

  • thin mints if you still have some

  • graham crackers, roasted marshmallows and chocolate chunks

Labor Day Happy Hour: Frozen Cocktails

Master frozen cocktails before the end of summer - that's my plan at least! In this class you'll learn how to make 3 frozen drinks, choose from this list:

  • Frose

  • Frozen Margarita

  • Frozen Mango Margarita

  • Pina Colada

  • Cafito

  • Fruit Daiquiri

  • Frozen Espresso Martini - YUM!

First Day of Fall: Cinnamon Buns

The smell of cinnamon buns baking in the oven will put anyone in the cozy fall mood! Event better these rolls will be delicious for a few days - savor for breakfast AND dessert.

First Day of Fall: Arancini

I wasn't lucky enough to make it to Italy this summer and am always looking for a recipe that will transport me there. Try this Sicilian arancini recipe for a special dinner at home - no passports required.

First Days of Fall: Japanese Curry

Join us for a cooking workshop on Sun, Sept 11 - we will be cooking up a storm, Japanese Curry is on the menu. Tickets are only $5 per person - tell your friends and fam to join you!

Let me know what recipes you try this month! Cheers!
