Pastry Chef Lei is the author of numerous cookbooks including Beach House Dinners, Beach House Brunch, Beach House Baking, and Farm-to-Table Desserts. Lei is the founder of Sugar Blossom Bake Shop in San Clemente, California. She is one of Southern California’s most respected bakers, having been honored as the Orange County Pastry Chef of the Year in 2011 by Riviera Magazine.
Lei is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York. She began her career at Sun Valley Resort in Sun Valley, Idaho, followed by Los Angeles and Dana Point, California as the Executive Pastry Chef of Michael Mina’s Stonehill Tavern at the AAA Five Diamond St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort. In 2010, Lei opened up Sugar Blossom Bake Shop in her favorite beach town of San Clemente. Though she sold it in 2020, Sugar Blossom continues to be one of the most popular and respected bakeries in Orange County.
In 2014 Lei wrote her first cookbook Beach House Baking, heralded by USA Today as one of the top 10 cookbooks of summer. She has been featured in People, Sunset Magazine, Coast Magazine, the Los Angeles Daily News, Fine Living, the Orange County Register, KTLA Morning News, PBS, and many more media outlets.
When not in the kitchen, Chef Lei enjoys growing vegetables and walking on the beach.
