Chef Tanya Baker

Raised in the far southeast side of Chicago, Chef Tanya was exposed to a myriad of different cultures, and with that came some pretty incredible food experiences. On top of that, her own Korean and Cajun heritage provided a vast foundation of cuisine to indulge in and explore. With food playing such an integral part of her life, Chef Tanya knew at an early age that she wanted to pursue a career as a chef.
After graduating high school, Chef Tanya studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago. With her new degree in hand, she immediately plunged into the professional culinary world. Over the years, Chef Tanya deepened her knowledge of Spanish, French, and Contemporary American cuisine. Chef Tanya’s biggest passion throughout her career has been teaching and leading young staff with little to no professional kitchen experience. She believes that with a little patience and dedication, anyone can learn to cook and excel at it. Chef Tanya made it her goal to break the standard “hardcore” atmosphere of kitchens and create an environment where people felt safe and inspired to create and develop their skills with out fear of being constantly berated and belittled. After working 15+ years in the restaurant industry excelling at catering, private events, public functions, opening of several restaurants and more, Chef Tanya is currently working on developing her own catering business, where she can express her true love and passion for Korean food and culture and share it with the world.
When she isn’t whipping up goodies in the kitchen, Chef Tanya loves hanging with her best pal pitbul Zoey, attending to her 70+ houseplants, spending time out in nature, watching true crime shows, and of course eating!! She cannot wait to aid in creating some memorable and delicious memories with you!
